Swimming
Swimming is one of the many resources that we enjoy here at LEAP.
It's both fun and educational at the same time.
It's teaching us how to survive in the water which we need as an essential
life skill if we are stranded in the middle of the ocean.
It also gives us a chance to have fun and cool off from the hot weather.
At the Leap office, we swim everyday. People who struggle with swimming, learn in the
shallow end, and those who know how to swim, do swimming excercises in the deep end. I know how to swim,
so my lifeguard, I call her YaYa, takes me everyday and we
do fun swimming excercise. Everyday we do 10 laps, then we dive for rings or I learn new swim strokes.
The lifeguards are very supportive and kind. They supply us with goggles and towels
when we don't have our own.
When groups enter the pool, the lifeguards split us into two groups,
the ones who can swim and the ones who cannot.
Each lifeguard chooses a teen, or multiple, to help improve their swimming skills.
They work with us up until the last 10-15 minutes, then we have free-time.
