What is LCLC?

Did you know that LCLC stands for LEAP's Computer Learning Center?
In the LCLC, we are learning about the fundamentals of coding. For four days a week we come to
the awesome class of LCLC and work on our LIT website by using
the programming langauge HTML.

What are we learning?

In the LCLC, we are learning a programmming language called Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML),
which allows us to create websites. It's important to learn HTML
because today people rely on techonolgy to get through life and find out information.
While we create our website, we learned how to debug our code which
means we found and fixed errors in our code. If we don't find the mistakes in our code,
then our website won't display everything the way we want it to be displayed.

What did we enjoy the most?!

Something that we enjoyed the most was making our own website.
It gave us the chance to show people what we learned in LCLC. I enjoyed that because
it gave me the chance to have fun with my friends and to learn something new.
Another great thing about the LCLC is that the atmosphere was nice
and they had cool air, and they also allowed us sit next to our friends.

How is programming important?

LCLC is important because it teaches us things that we may need to know in the future.
For example, we learned what we shouldn't post on our social media accounts
and also, never to give out our personal information online.
Also, because it exposes people that haven't been exposed to HTML before.

How can LCLC be used in life or a profession?

By learning coding, specifically HTML, we were able to create a website to show and give people information
about the things that are happening at LEAP today. Another perk of learning programming
is that now some of us have some experince with the feild, we have an idea about whether or not we would pick a career in this field.

What else did we learn in the LCLC?

Another thing we learned in the LCLC was about website safety.
We are able to recognize if posting something or sending information
to someone is going to be done in a safe way that won't harm us.
We now know that whatever we post online is there forever and we
need to be careful about that.

What do we plan on doing with what we learned?

Because we learned about coding and HTML, we are now able to tell our friends
about the website we created and show the kids at school what we have created over the
summer. Also, we are now able to create our own websites.

Have our views on programming changed?

At first, we didn't know a lot about programming.
Now, we know how to create a website and we learned how people make them so that
we can have a chance to make our own. We also now have an idea what a programmer
does all day and how you need to pay attention to what you are typing because
its hard to find bugs while using HTML because we aren't using a debugger. There is
a lot more that goes into a website then we thought and it was weird to think that
this is how some of the sites we use, like Instagram, are created using the
same programming language we are using and learning.

What was our overall experience with programming??

Our experience was great! We enjoyed this a lot more than Javascript.
It was easier to understand and we had an easier time picking it up. We also enjoyed
being able to change all of the colors of the text and finding
pictures to go along with what we were writing about. We really liked the creative aspect of HTML.

What did we enjoy about this resource?

In LCLC, we enjoyed being able to learn how create our own website.
We also didn't mind commenting on our code to show and explain to other groups
what things on the website mean. We really liked
seeing the other groups' progress.
